Free Cancer Screening & Awareness Camp Held in Doraha

Doraha January 5 (Amrish Anand)World Cancer Care Organisation, OT Transformative Foundation, and Vatrukh Foundation, in association with the Municipal Council Doraha and the local administration, organised a Free Cancer Screening & Awareness Camp at Guru Nanak National College Campus, Doraha, to promote early detection, cancer awareness, and preventive healthcare. The camp received an encouraging response from the local community.Dr Dharminder Dhillon, Managing Director, World Cancer Care Organisation, said that CSR support under the PEHEL initiative of SBI Cards and Payment Services Limited has enabled quality cancer screening and awareness services to reach communities. He added that early diagnosis through such camps is critical in reducing the cancer burden.Dr Simarpreet Sandhu, Chairperson, OT Transformative Foundation, said that sustained awareness drives and regular health camps are essential for strengthening preventive healthcare. She added that OTT continues to focus on extending essential healthcare services to rural subaltern communities.Samita Kaur, Founder, Vatrukh Foundation, said that organising the camp in Doraha aimed to improve access to preventive healthcare for local residents. She added that community-based initiatives encourage timely health-seeking behaviour.The camp offered free services including cancer awareness counselling, oral and women’s cancer screening, mammography and Pap smear tests, blood pressure and sugar checks, thyroid screening, anaemia assessment, eye screening with free spectacles, medical consultations, and referral guidance.
